Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been earned on hardcourt

A comeback Medvedev claimed his first trophy for over two years with success over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a torrid period, managing just one match at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the New York tournament.

The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serving in especial - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally parting ways with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Presently training with Johansson and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive win over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is his maiden trophy since the Rome competition and initial on a hardcourt since spring of that year.

Victory also signifies the Russian has secured twenty-one titles at 21 various competitions.

"For the first time I am participating in a competition with my both daughters simultaneously, so to get a title is really nice," said world number 14 the champion.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I won when my first daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his past six championship matches, including in that event in the past months.

The player's retrieving strategy and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had led commentators to wonder if his ability to compete at the elite level was over.

But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and compete aggressively, supported by an improved serving game.

He recovered from a break down in the opening set against the tricky Frenchman, taking four of the concluding five games to go ahead.

The competitors exchanged service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his first tour title, seized the initiative to create a decider.

The opponent defended four early-game break points in a competitive final set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Appropriately, Medvedev secured victory with a shot at the net, with Moutet failing to control a return after a lengthy match.
